The current short interest ratio is 1.24%, and there has been little short selling throughout the rise. As far as I remember, the short selling ratio has never exceeded 2%. $NVIDIA(NVDA.US$ has a strong free cash flow, high profit margins, and a good competitive landscape in the industry.
Even if the valuation is at this level, if I had to choose between shorting NVIDIA and Tesla based on forward EV/EBITDA, which are both at 40x, I would still choose to short $Tesla(TSLA.US$ One is nearly a monopoly, while the other is in a fragmented market losing share. The short sellers in the U.S. stock market are not as foolish as you might think.
