The European Union has issued a sky-high $1.8 billion fine against Apple.
On Monday, the European Commission announced a €1.8 billion fine against Apple for abusing its monopoly to restrict music streaming competitors, including Spotify. The fine, which was issued, began with a complaint from Swedish music streaming giant Spotify 2019.Spotify claimed that Apple had a monopoly on competition in the streaming music market due to the company's forced increase in the price of its subscription service as a result of Apple's AppStore 30% draw.
At the same time, the European Commission also ordered Apple to stop blocking developers from recommending cheaper paid options outside the AppStore to users. In its latest statement, Apple rejected the EU's fine and said that EU regulators had "found no credible evidence of any harm to consumers". $Apple (AAPL.US)$
