Former professional shogi player, investor. Born in Takehara City, Hiroshima Prefecture. In 1975, at the age of 25, he became a professional shogi player and reached the rank of fourth dan. He retired from active shogi playing at the age of 57 and focused on stock investment. In 2008, he suffered a huge loss due to the Lehman Shock. His financial assets of 300 million yen decreased to one-sixth of the original amount. Since then, he has lived a life of stockholder privileges with minimal cash spending. He has written several books, including 'Kirigaya-san no Kabunushi Yuudai Seikatsu' (Kadokawa Shoten), 'Kirigaya-san no Kabunushi Yuudai Life' (Shogakukan), 'Kirigaya-san no Kabunushi Yuudai Nyumon' (Sogo Forei Publishing), 'Kabunushi Yuudai no Susume' (Shodensha), 'Kirigaya-san no Kabu Nyumon' (Diamond-sha), 'Kirigaya-san no Beikoku Kabu Nyumon' (Diamond-sha), etc. As a Shogi player, he has authored works such as 'Kore ga Yagura da' series, 'Fuji no Tamatebako,' and so on.

After graduating from university, he joined Texas Instruments Japan Co., Ltd. in 1991. After experiencing engineering and sales in Osaka, he was transferred to the US headquarters and was in charge of business development. For more than 20 years, including working at the headquarters, he has been involved in a wide range of products such as DSP, analog, and DLP. He has held various management positions. In 2014, he joined NVIDIA. As the representative of NVIDIA Japan, he leads the expansion of the market and ecosystem of NVIDIA products and solutions, including graphics for PC games, industrial design and scientific computing workstations, and supercomputers, and devotes himself to the popularization of AI computing in Japan. He holds an MBA from Tokyo Metropolitan University.

Born in Nagano Prefecture. After graduating from Keio University's Faculty of Economics, he joined NHK. He started as a local reporter, then became a science and culture reporter, and later became the chief reporter in the news department. Since 1994, he has been explaining various news topics in an easy-to-understand manner and gaining popularity on NHK's "Weekly Children's News" program. After leaving NHK in 2005, he worked as a freelance journalist, conducting interviews on various topics and appearing in a wide range of media. In February 2012, he became a professor at the Liberal Arts Center at Tokyo Institute of Technology (now the Liberal Arts Research and Education Institute), and has been in his current position since 2016. He has written many best-selling books, including "The Power of Communication" (PHP Shinsho) and the "World's Major Problems You'll Be Embarrassed Not Knowing About" series (Kadokawa Shinsho).
