The first televised debate for the 2024 US presidential election will be held on June 27 at 9 p.m. EST in Atlanta. According to the organizer's statement, the night's debate will be between US President Joe Biden and former US President Trump, and will last 90 minutes.
Notably, both the first debate and the second debate, which will be held on September 10, will be broadcast live on television across the US, but there will be no live viewers.
According to past practice, the presidential debate committee usually arranges three presidential debates and one vice presidential debate after the bipartisan National Congress and before the November general election. As a result, this debate also marked many “firsts”: this will be the first presidential debate to be held before the bipartisan National Congress; since neither Biden nor Trump have received official nominations from their respective parties, this is also the first presidential debate in US history between two presumed presidential nominees within their respective parties.
