SEC committee members who are opposed to cryptocurrencies are facing a "reappointment vote," drawing industry attention from the US Senate.
The US Senate Banking Committee is scheduled to vote on the reappointment of Caroline Crenshaw, a Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) commissioner, on December 11th, with the cryptocurrency industry closely watching the outcome.
Ms. Crenshaw has been serving as an SEC commissioner since August 2020, known for her strong opposition to cryptocurrencies. Therefore, concerns and criticisms from prominent figures in the industry have been raised regarding her reappointment.
Chairman Gensler, who has faced criticism not only from the industry but also from the US Congress due to his tough stance on the cryptocurrency industry, is confirmed to retire on January 20, 2025. However, if the US Senate Banking Committee approves Ms. Crenshaw's reappointment, her term will be until 2029.

StreetLife ぴるさん OP : I don't think it's that big of a problem. Wasn't it just Gensler and this person who were originally against it? Right? If Gensler disappears and it's just one of the commissioners, it shouldn't be a problem. (At least it will definitely get better than now)
The next chairman is a supporter. And since Gensler was ousted in that way, Caroline probably won't be able to talk big in the future, right?

The same kind of proposal seems to be being made to Amazon in that respect.
