The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), an independent agency of the U.S. government, late on September 30th, accused American Apple (AAPL.O) of violating employees' rights to unionize and demand improvement in working conditions by continuing a series of illegal workplace regulations. The NLRB stated in the complaint that Apple forces employees nationwide to enter into illegal agreements regarding confidentiality, non-disclosure, and non-compete clauses, while also pointing out that they have implemented excessively broad policies regarding misconduct and social media. They claimed that Apple is obstructing, restricting, and suppressing the exercise of rights protected by federal labor laws. Apple's public relations department stated in a declaration that they always respect employees' rights to discuss wages, working hours, and working conditions, and that this attitude is reflected in their employment regulations. They expressed strong disagreement with the NLRB's allegations and indicated their intention to continue sharing facts during the trial. If Apple does not settle, an administrative law judge will conduct a trial starting in January next year. The NLRB is demanding the cancellation of illegal regulations by the company and the dissemination of legal rights to employees nationwide.
