President Mester of the US Cleveland District Federal Reserve expressed the view on the 20th that the current monetary policy of the United States is restrictive. Also, they expressed the idea that although the inflation rate falls toward the target of 2%, it will not decline rapidly.
President Mester told Bloomberg TV that until now, he thought there was a high possibility that the Federal Reserve (FRB) would cut interest rates three times by the end of the year, but “I don't think that is appropriate” based on the current economic situation.
　On top of that, he said, “The risk of inflation increased based on the fact that progress surrounding the price situation stagnated in the first quarter.”
