The results of the 2024 global smart education conference have been released, and the NetDragon education resource product 'Most Beautiful Particle' has sparked discussions among experts.
From August 18th to August 20th, 2024, the Global Smart Education Conference will be held in Beijing, and NetDragon will participate in this conference for the ninth consecutive year. In the "Digital Transformation towards Smart Education" forum held on the afternoon of the 18th...The "most beautiful teaching resource particle - photosynthesis" (hereinafter referred to as the "most beautiful particle") developed by NetDragon was released as a major achievement at the conference for the first time.Dr. Zhang Zhi, Director of the Baoshan District Education Bureau of Shanghai, attended and introduced the product as the presenter, and Chen Changjie, Deputy Dean of the Smart Learning Research Institute of Beijing Normal University and Vice President of NetDragon, presided over the release ceremony.
It is reported that this forum is one of the main forums of the 2024 global smart education conference, hosted by the Ministry of Education's Education Informatization Strategy Research Base (Beijing, Central China, Northwest) and NetDragon, aiming to explore the national smart education strategy for strengthening SDG4 (UN Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education), regional and school education digital transformation, construction and application of public digital learning platforms, and regional smart education collaborative innovation mechanisms.
The Most Beautiful Teaching Resource Particle - Photosynthesis
The "Most Beautiful Teaching Resource Particle - Photosynthesis" released at this forum is a next-generation educational resource concept model launched by NetDragon in deep cooperation with the Baoshan District Education Bureau of Shanghai. In recent years, the rapid development of technologies such as big data, metaverse, and artificial intelligence has provided powerful creative power for the intelligent transformation of educational resources. The dual development of artificial intelligence and learning science, the perfect combination of knowledge graphs and artificial intelligence models, learner models and teaching strategy models, has sparked the explosive development of intelligent transformation of the next generation of educational resources. In this background, the "Most Beautiful Particle" has emerged.
Chen Changjie introduced that the "Most Beautiful Particle" was developed by NetDragon's Future Experiment team using 3D education engine technology, AI automation production tools, and received the help of subject experts and frontline teachers. Combining different perspectives, the team designed story scenes and emphasized the teaching needs of "interactive teaching, immersive learning", constructing a more universal teaching strategy model.
In the press conference, experts demonstrated how learners, guided by the AI smart learning companion in the "Future Lab", step by step, uncover the mysteries of photosynthesis inside an apple leaf. As the learning progresses, the AI smart learning companion will continuously provide clues, charts, data, etc. to help learners find answers, enabling them to explore step by step. The microcosmic world created with 3D resources is vivid and delicate, vividly showcasing the magic of photosynthesis in nature. The entire particle resource is an intelligent entity that accompanies students' growth and can present different forms based on students' characteristics, personality, and learning progress. It pushes suitable resources or tasks, demonstrating the infinite possibilities of smart education, which received praise from the audience.
After the press conference, Zhang Zhi, director of the Baoshan District Education Bureau in Shanghai, chaired the roundtable discussion.Professor Xue Gui from the State Key Laboratory of Cognitive Neuroscience and Learning at Beijing Normal University, Vice Principal Yan Baiyang from Xingzhi Middle School in Shanghai, and Associate Professor Zhang Chunlei from the College of Life Sciences at East China Normal UniversityCross-border discussions on the 'most beautiful grains' were conducted to explore the future path of intelligent transformation of educational resources.
During the discussion, Professor Xue Gui believes that such teaching grains can help students form organic knowledge systems in the brain, largely overturning traditional teaching models, making idealized learning and learning consistent with brain rules a possibility. Dr. Yan Baiyang, as a frontline teaching expert, believes that the 'most beautiful grains' are interesting, flexible, efficient, and capable of self-iteration, while he looks forward to future education resource production being based on computation and knowledge graphs, achieving intelligence, personalization, and automation, allowing every teacher to be a producer and user of intelligent resources. Professor Zhang Chunlei believes that the intelligent transformation of educational resources should have accessibility, sustainability, diversity, and openness. He also emphasizes the importance of future integrated education and proposes to involve more learners in the creation of resources.
Future Experiments
It is reported that 'Future Experiments' is a smart education product for K12 subjects. It changes the traditional 'imparting-receiving' education method, where learners passively receive educational content, transforming it into a learner-centered approach. Through interactive, exploratory, and situational learning forms, knowledge points become more intuitive, more concrete, and easier to understand, enabling learners to comprehend and master knowledge points more efficiently and independently. At the same time, with the help of AI, learners can intelligently adjust their learning progress and study plan, thereby achieving personalized learning.
Chen Changjie introduced that the "Most Beautiful Particle" released this time will further empower "Future Experiment" and improve the effectiveness of education. For example, by using XR, VR, AR, MR, and other technologies, it will redefine the intelligent learning environment and create a more immersive teaching and learning experience. In addition, it can use data flow to obtain key data in different learning scenarios. By analyzing the data, it can truly achieve data-driven intelligent educational decision-making. Furthermore, with the help of digital people, 5G communication, edge computing, AI automation, and other technologies, it can break the limitations of time and space, enhance the level of sharing high-quality educational resources, and promote educational equity.
The teaching particles developed in the early stage of the "Future Experiment" have now been successfully applied in the virtual experiments led by the Ministry of Education Education Technology and Resources Development Center (Central Digital Education Museum). Currently, the project has covered 31 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions across the country, nearly 0.02 million primary and secondary schools, and has served millions of teachers and students, becoming a leader in the field of virtual experimental teaching applications.
Chen Changjie also stated that in the future, NetDragon plans to use the standard of the "Most Beautiful Particle" and AI automation technology to comprehensively upgrade 1.4 million learning objectives in the K12 stage, including key scientific concepts such as flame color reaction, light propagation, and the movement of the eight planets. At the same time, it will establish a production rule library that supports AI recognition, and automatically match different production methods based on the rules, connecting all production steps and processes. By then, AI will be able to automatically generate materials and edit and merge them according to user needs, creating 3D character teaching animation videos.
It is reported that at the 2023 Global Smart Education Conference, NetDragon launched EDA, a future-oriented smart education service institution, for global learners, calling for the co-creation and sharing of educational resources to create a digital educational ecosystem where everyone can learn anytime, anywhere. Chen Changjie stated that "Future Experiment" is an important part of EDA and will provide rich production materials, resources, tools, and processes to content creators, publishers, frontline teachers, and others to participate in the co-creation of "Future Experiment", design long-term mechanisms, and meet the needs of education services, effectively integrate and promote the sharing of high-quality educational resources, and advance the development of education equity and learning society.
