KUALA LUMPUR: Berjaya Rail Sdn Bhd (Berjaya Rail), which is eyeing the Kuala Lumpur-Singapura High Speed Rail (HSR KL-SG) project, has joined the Malaysian Rail Industry Organization (MARIC) as a new member.
Berjaya Rail, a subsidiary of Berjaya Land Bhd (Berjaya Land), expanded its core business encompassing transportation and is now actively participating in the Information Request Process (RFI) issued by MyHSR Corporation Sdn Bhd for the HSR KL-SG project.
Berjaya Land is a subsidiary of Berjaya Corporation Bhd (Berjaya Corporation).
Berjaya Corporation in a statement today said MARIC and Berjaya Rail will work together to drive progress in the rail industry, in line with the country's vision to become the leading rail hub in the region.
Berjaya Land Group CEO and Berjaya Rail Board Member Syed Ali Shahul Hameed said Berjaya Rail is committed to working closely with stakeholders such as MARIC to enhance and develop the capacity of the local rail industry.
“This is to create a robust ecosystem to ensure that local companies can thrive and compete globally, especially in related areas (HSR),” he said.
Meanwhile, MARIC President Datuk Mohd Yusoff Sulaiman said he was always pushing for initiatives that strengthen the local rail industry.
“Berjaya Rail's participation in our network will support our commitment to foster a collaborative environment that benefits all stakeholders,” he said.
MARIC is made up of 50 major railway companies, with the objective of forming an authoritative local company that works with the government in the construction of the railway network while ensuring operations run smoothly, safely, and sustainably.
