The media keeps hyping about yen depreciation, but looking at history, it's actually yen appreciation as seen in the attached photo.
Yen depreciation is often blamed, but due to yen appreciation, Japan's strong export industries and tourism sector are suffering.
In the end, Japanese real incomes are decreasing, and even with yen appreciation, overseas countries are experiencing inflation and import costs are not decreasing.
It's like a vicious cycle.
By the way, Abenomics led to a depreciation of the yen, which in turn resulted in a sharp rise in Japanese stocks.
