My jaw dropped when I read this...

razo2 : what they traded? Corona beer with lime? meth?
bullrider_21 : Well, you know the US placed trade restrictions on China. China replied tit-for-tat.
SpyderCall OP razo2 : Very funny
SpyderCall OP bullrider_21 : Yup. but this is just unexpected. can Mexico really get cheaper labor than China? Or is the US just willing to pay more at this point??
SpyderCall OP bullrider_21 : I didn't think it would go this far
bullrider_21 SpyderCall OP : US is willing to pay more.
bullrider_21 SpyderCall OP : It has gone far and is set to go further. Most US politicians are hawkish against China.
SpyderCall OP bullrider_21 : Politicians are not the brightest here in the States. When you represent your constituents that elected you, then you are supposed to follow their bidding or at least help the region you were elected for.
That doesn't happen in politics here. There is a possibility that politicians are influenced by kickbacks, just like anybody else. They are human just like anybody else.
Altruism is not apparent when special interests provide gifts of cash money for legislative control. It's called lobbying.
not-a-cow razo2 : Lots of car parts for one.
not-a-cow SpyderCall OP : I disagree, most (all?) politics is local, and that's part of the problem. If you bring home the bacon in the form of government subsidies your constituents may overlook some of your votes that don't affect them personally.
