Gapping up
The stock rose 0.4% after the credit card giant reported third-quarter profit that beat expectations, helped by resilient spending from its wealthy customers who shrugged off concerns about an economic downturn.

$Regions Financial (RF.US)$ stock fell 5.5% after the regional lender said it expects its fourth-quarter net interest income to decline about 5% compared with the preceding three months, as banks pay more to retain deposits.
