Took a Hit Today

Never Enter Into a Trade Out of Fomo
I always beat myself up too much when I give back some of my gains to the market. That's what I did today.
I misjudged the price action following the CPI report. I didn't follow the cardinal rule in trading. Don't fomo or panic into or out of a trade.
I entered into the trade out of fomo. My thoughts were that we would see a little more volatility following the CPI results. After a little whipsaw price action, the trade quickly turned against me. I took an over 8% hit to my portfolio. That is a really big chunk of my portfolio.
Took a Hit Today
Luckily, after getting over my misery, I was able to salvage some of my losses with a short on Apple. But I gave back over 60% of my gains from yesterday. This happens all of the time in the options game.
As always, this is not investment advice. Good luck trading. Be careful and be patient. Dont anticipate the market. Rather, participate in the market. Give your investments time. Don't be greedy. Don't invest in anything you don't understand. Don't put all of your eggs in one basket. Don't listen to the hype. Don't fomo or panic into or out of trades. Do your own due diligence. And just follow the trends. A trend is your friend.
