Using a very simple trading strategy when a stock is experiencing a good upside in a non-volatile market, this is when we can look at using MACD and KDJ.
In this article, I will be showing you how I will be using MACD and KDJ to determine when to buy or when to sell. I use this strategy on$Tesla (TSLA.US)$last night.
MACD Form Crossover and KDJ 'K' value form up
I decide to monitor Tesla using the 1 min chart on Trading view as the hype from Robotaxi have investors interest come back, we could see that there have been very good volume during the early hours before 12 midnight.
I decide to enter a BUY trade once I saw the MACD form a crossover, and using KDJ for confirmation, normally I will look at the K value to see if it is forming, in my case, it is the green bar.
When Do You Sell? D value forming after and upside
Normally in looking for when to sell, I will look at KDJ first, because once we saw that the K and J value disappearing and D value start to form, it is time to preparing for the selling.
Same thing, I will use the MACD for confirmation, normally we could see that MACD start to have a reverse crossover, that is the time when we could sell.
Summary
You can actually try and see if it works for you for any stocks you might be monitoring, the criteria are as follows:
a. market is not volatile
b. stock is enjoying good volume
c. need to be short term, that is why 1 min chart is to be used.
Appreciate if you could share your thoughts in the comment section whether you think MACD and KDJ works for you to spot a stock to buy and sell.
