September has historically been the worst month for US stocks - and if last week's stock market performance is any indication, history will not disappoint this month. US stocks closed in a sea of red on Friday to round a volatile trading week, with all three major indexes down. It was the worst week for the Nasdaq since June of 2022 while the S&P experienced its worst week since March of 2023.
Tech stocks led the selloff, with semiconductor darling Nvidia among one of the biggest names to come under pressure, falling more than 10% in the week past.
But there could be some good news on the horizon, with all eyes on the upcoming FOMC meeting happening mid-month, where a rate cut is all but certain. The main question on everyone’s mind - how big will the cut be?
Will it get worse before it gets better?
