If the price goes down is short can buy it for high price after he had already sold it for a low price and make money. It’s the exact reverse of what you’re trying to do except people do it when a stock is likely to lose value. It’s a smart move. It’s not a cruel move. It doesn’t hurt anyone. There’s no fake shares.
