Trump’s tariffs on China: how I read it?

$Alibaba (BABA.US)$ $JD.com (JD.US)$ $PDD Holdings (PDD.US)$ $Tencent (TCEHY.US)$ $Baidu (BIDU.US)$  $BABA $BIDU $JD $PDD $TCEHY Sanctions and Tariffs on Chinese imports will no longer be effective like it was years ago.  The China of today is a very different  from yesteryears; much stronger technologically and militarily; all these achieved through innovations; diversification and expanding trades and building relations with many more countries in the world.  US, in trying to contain China will instead suffer more backfiring and cause hardships to ordinary Americans.  China’s tit for tat tariffs on US farm produce is hurting American farmers is a fine example.  US will have to accept a multipolar world, like it or not. The alternative will be a world war which nobody wants and nobody wins.  I believe Trump and his administration know that.
Trump’s  original plan was to impose 60% tariffs on China but then quickly reduced it to 10% when he took office.  This action itself is a backdown without Trump losing too much face and appear weak.  However, it certainly indicates that his administration knows the serious consequences to Americans and not just China should the 60% tariffs be imposed.  As such the 10% tariff is already a certainty and China had already been informed of the plan during Trump and Xi’s recent phone call.  Market Manipulators will as usual capitalise on this ‘news’ to weed out weak holders and the impatient.  Accumulate on weakness.  The best is yet to come for these gems.  Buy when there are fears and sell when there are cheers!

      • 104174101 : tariff means meta and Microsoft in US pay for it?😊

      • Buy n Die Together❤ :

      • Yan Zhang8 : You are still a child.

      • 102313005 : Nice try

      • SKYWalkers : "Sanctions and Tariffs on Chinese imports will no longer be effective like it was years ago."

        nope, you are wrong.

"The China of today is a very different  from yesteryears; much stronger technologically and militarily; "

the technology is Western and FDI, military is very large part built up by Soviet and Russia, there is very little invention from CCP and PLA

        "all these achieved through innovations;"

nope. Name one technological innovation from China, there is none.

"diversification and expanding trades and building relations with many more countries in the world."

these are mainly bought using money, sex, and extortions, once the money stops flowing, especially to developing nations, those corrupt nations will leave.
there are more enemies of China today than 10 years ago, all these are due to the evil antics of CCP

"US, in trying to contain China will instead suffer more backfiring and cause hardships to ordinary Americans."

nope, in containing China, the world will be better and more prosperous, and China won't be able to dump their steel, EVs, cheap products that are subsidised by CCP to disrupt normal trade, unbalance demand and supply, in a bid to bankrupt world economy in order to take over those industries via run to the bottom cheap prices like what Temu, PDD, is doing with inferior products.

"China’s tit for tat tariffs on US farm produce is hurting American farmers is a fine example."

nope. China is heavily dependent on US for crops, particularly soya beans, which accounts for 1/3 of China's imports of soya, US soya is cheaper than other sources, if China is to not buy from US, it will have 1/3 less to feed their population, and soya is an important commodity in food industries and feed stocks.
in truth, China is more dependent on US than US is dependent on China.

"US will have to accept a multipolar world, like it or not. "

US is not rejecting a multi polar world, as long as all nations play by the rule, it's CCP that is not accepting a multi polar world, but is intent to cheat and bully the rest of the smaller nations with their evil communist ideology and ambition to overwrite a free trade economy with their planned communist ideas.

"The alternative will be a world war which nobody wants and nobody wins."

there won't be a World War because China is incapable of fighting a world war, any military expert knows very well the problems inside PLA, that's why Emperor Xi has been trying to purge PLA for 10 years.

"I believe Trump and his administration know that. "

yes, Trump knows CCP will not win, and is intent to destroy CCP

"Trump’s  original plan was to impose 60% tariffs on China but then quickly reduced it to 10% when he took office. "

you have not gotten your facts right.
the effect of removing most favoured nation from China, which will be done, in time, is equivalent to 60% tariff.
Trump is starting with 10% tariff, "Xi, what is your response?"
not playing fair? add another 10%
not allowing twitter into China? add another 10%
manipulating your currency? add another 10%
all this is on top of the 60% when most favoured nation is removed.
you don't understand Trump and severely underestimate his resolve to bring down CCP in Cold War 2.0

" This action itself is a backdown without Trump losing too much face and appear weak.  However, it certainly indicates that his administration knows the serious consequences to Americans and not just China should the 60% tariffs be imposed.  As such the 10% tariff is already a certainty and China had already been informed of the plan during Trump and Xi’s recent phone call. "

as I said, you don't understand the facts and don't understand Trump

"Market Manipulators will as usual capitalise on this ‘news’ to weed out weak holders and the impatient.  Accumulate on weakness.  The best is yet to come for these gems.  Buy when there are fears and sell when there are cheers!"

yes, as long as you don't buy China companies, you will be ok!

      • 目标不工作 SKYWalkers : I'm laughing so hard, talking seriously nonsense. I can imagine how serious you are when typing. With human history and civilization for so long, where is the absolute democracy and fairness coming from? Is the current democracy in the USA really democratic? Can a country of less than 300 years represent the entire history of humanity? Try touching capital and the interests of the USA. As an individual micro entity, where do you get the confidence to judge right and wrong for the entire human race? Just focus on stock trading to make money honestly, instead of coming here to talk about social ideology while trying to make some money. Just focus on making money, that's what matters. You are so old, do you need someone in their twenties to teach you about worldview, or did you miss out on reading books?

      • SKYWalkers 目标不工作 : you are totally illogical.
who is talking about US, we are talking about China here, your whataboutism is not useful and does not address the current discussion, that's how CCP has brainwashed you into illogical diatribes of meandering useless verbage that does not discuss current issues and only divert away attention.
look at the issues and discuss, don't divert and talk rubbish and go around the world talking about me, which is not the topic here, that's why you will never be able to invest properly if you are unable to see the global larger dynamics of geopolitics at work.
you need to study more and do more research and bring substance to the discussion, debate on points instead of talking nonsense, not bringing any value to the discussion.

      • Yan Zhang8 目标不工作 : You are still young and don't understand. When you travel around the world, you will understand. When your mind is open, you will understand. Those so-called good friends and brother countries are all what kind of people. Without the introduction of modern civilization, you might still have to kowtow to the officials, the whole family only has 3 pieces of clothing to share, and you can't even have a few bites of meat in your lifetime. It can be said that the civilization of the past 5000 years is a joke, and it is the entry of modern universal Christian values civilization that has brought you everything you have now.

      • pioneering Otter_931 : This tariff hits at the very core of cheap Chinese ecommerce into US targeting Shein, Temu and such companies. With the de minimis exemption for items less than 800$ scrapped. PDD should be hit 5% atleast on Monday.

      • SKYWalkers pioneering Otter_931 : at least your comment is a logical discussion on facts, details, analysis and impacts, compare with people who just shout nonsense without providing any inputs.
