TSMC increases sales by 30% in May - strong AI demand contributed
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, the largest contract semiconductor manufacturer (TSMCSales of) in May were 229.6 billion Taiwan dollars (approximately 110 trillion yen), up 30% from the same month last year. Strong demand for artificial intelligence (AI) and the recovery of some home appliances contributed.

Global sales of smartphones have emerged from a long-standing slump in the January-March fiscal year, and expectations for strong orders for mobile semiconductors are also growing.
Wei Zhejia, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of TSMC, once again indicated this week that AI development will drive the industry recovery in 2024.
