TSMC shares fall more than 2%, Trump says “Taiwan should pay defense costs”

The stock price of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSMC), the world's largest contract semiconductor manufacturer, fell by more than 2% in trading on the 17th. It became known that former President Trump, the Republican candidate for the US presidential election, stated that Taiwan should pay defense costs.
In an interview at Bloomberg Businessweek, Trump said, “I know [Taiwanese] people very well, and I have great respect for them. They took about 100% of our chip business. I think Taiwan should pay us defense costs,” he said.
