October 10, 2024 (excerpt)
TSMC, the world's largest semiconductor foundry, has revealed plans to construct two new semiconductor manufacturing facilities in the southern Taiwanese city of Kaohsiung. This plan aims to significantly expand the company's production capacity in Kaohsiung and is expected to further strengthen Taiwan's semiconductor industry competitiveness.
The two factories to be constructed are named "P4" and "P5" and are already in the planning stage. These factories are scheduled to be built in the Nanzih Technology Industrial Park in Kaohsiung City, increasing the company's total manufacturing facilities in the region to five. According to the Kaohsiung Mayor's announcement, environmental assessments are set to begin soon.
