The CES showcase is here! Where's the next breakthrough in AI?

Two Undervalued Chip Giants to Watch in 2025 (De Belegger, Netherlands ). But also opinion of Rosenblatt, time ago.

$Micron Technology (MU.US)$ and $Advanced Micro Devices (AMD.US)$ as Top Picks for 2025. They are critical to growth in AI and next-gen technology.
AMD’s Strong Position: AMD is benefiting from CPU and GPU market share growth, driven by its EPYC processors and upcoming MI350/MI400 GPUs, with a focus on hyperscale and edge AI applications.
Micron’s HBM Dominance: Micron is strong in AI-focused DRAM usage with its High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) products, with favorable supply and demand expected in 2025.
Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and Micron Technology (MU) are being touted as the best stocks for growth in the first half of 2025 . Both companies are key players in two major technology trends: the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) and the development of next-gen broadband solutions.
There is an price target of $250 on both stocks. Although it is clear that this assuming us the best-case scenario.
AMD continues to strengthen its position in both CPU and GPU markets, supported by the continued growth of its EPYC processors in the data center market. These chips are gaining market share due to their combination of performance and cost efficiency. AMD’s expertise in chiplet architecture is driving adoption of its GPUs, including the MI350 launching in 2025 and the MI400 following in 2026. These technologies are specifically targeted at hyperscale data centers and edge computing (AI) applications, a fast-growing market segment.
Micron’s Dominance is in High Bandwidth Memory (HBM). Mu , known for its expertise in memory solutions, is poised to benefit from a structural shift toward High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) in AI platforms. HBM offers a significant performance advantage over traditional DRAM, with a current supply-to-demand ratio of 3:1 for HBM3E and an expected 4:1 for the next-generation HBM4. Micron has positioned itself as a key player in this niche market, with power efficiency and high configurations such as 12-Hi and 16-Hi providing a significant competitive advantage.
Micron Technology is making significant advances in the GPU market. They recently announced the sampling of their next-generation GDDR7 graphics memory.
This new memory technology offers over 1.5 TB/s of system bandwidth, which is up to 60% higher than GDDR6, and provides a greater than 50% power-efficiency improvement. GDDR7 is designed to enhance performance for AI, gaming, and high-performance computing workloads. It offers faster response times, smoother gameplay, and reduced processing times. This positions Micron as a strong competitor in the GPU market, especially for applications requiring high bandwidth and power efficiency.
And the new Quantum lithography machine from $ASML Holding (ASML.US)$ can give a boost because the future is for the nano chips. A case to follow also.
Conclusion ... read carefully.
For investors focused on long-term growth in technology, these could be stocks to investigate further. AMD and Micron are not only strong, emerging players in their respective markets, but also well-positioned to benefit from the fundamental shifts in how data is processed, stored, and used in tomorrow’s AI-driven world. If either company can achieve a growth phase in 2025 that many investors expect, they could surprise us.
But AMD’s growth expectations heavily dependent on its success in the AI market, where Nvidia currently dominates with an 80% market share. If AMD’s new GPUs like the MI350 and MI400 do not convince in terms of performance or energy efficiency, its market share of only 4% can hardly grow. At the same time, Nvidia’s CUDA software remains a key competitive advantage, while AMD struggles with inefficiencies in its own software ecosystem. In addition, a drop in demand for data center CPUs or (at this point unexpected) competition from Intel and Qualcomm could further jeopardize AMD’s growth targets.
Micron’s growth in 2025 largely depends on the demand for High Bandwidth Memory (HBM3), a crucial technology for AI workloads. If production issues or a drop in global AI investments occur, (what i not expect) the expected revenue growth may not materialize. But Mu is a supplier of Nvidia but also SK Hynix and Samsung? But with US restrictions, this can be better for Mu?

  • LazySleepyTrader : agree with asml, disagree with MU..

  • Money Thrill OP LazySleepyTrader : i understand,  i too asml is leading company in Quantum lithography. Mu ? Sentiment not good. but perhaps? The current HBM 3e generation is made on the so-called 1-beta process. In 2025, Micron wants to make the first chips on the new 1-gamma process, the first production process for which the memory maker will use EUV machines from ASML. This new 1 gamma chips can be a change?

  • Money Thrill OP : 1. Extreme Ultraviolet (EUV) Lithography: Micron will be the first DRAM manufacturer to use EUV technology for volume production in Japan.
EUV lithography allows for more precise and efficient patterning, which can lead to smaller memory cells and higher performance.

    2. Improved Memory Density and Power Efficiency: The 1-gamma process is expected to enable the world's smallest memory cell, which will increase memory density and improve power efficiency.
This means more memory capacity in the same physical space and lower power consumption

    3. Investment and Collaboration: Micron is investing heavily in this technology, with support from the Japanese  government. But also in Europe,  Belgium,  here

    4. Potential Impact on AI and HPC: With higher memory density and efficiency, the 1-gamma process could significantly benefit applications in artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC), enabling faster and more efficient data processing.
Overall, the 1-gamma process represents a major leap forward in memory technology, and it's exciting to see how it will shape the future of computing!
    That's what i means.

  • Money Thrill OP : And the last week $ASML Holding (ASML.US)$  selled the FIRST MACHINE to Japan! Together with the gouvernement & Companies a new Factory shall set up. And Mu is also busy in Japan?

  • 101782047 : There is no need to agree or disagree at all

  • Money Thrill OP 101782047 : indeed, only evaluation [undefined]

  • Ray P : amd under $85 looks good 👍 [undefined]

  • Money Thrill OP Ray P : Indeed, Ray ... that's the price of February 2023. Very cheap and i suppose that the leadership of Nvidia shall stay a year but AMD shall do his best to catch up. Duration 6 months or 1 year? The leadership of Nvidia shall not been always. So 85 shall be good , even a little more ?
