U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has announced that businessmen Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy will lead the newly established Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) during his second term in the White House.
“Together, these two great Americans will pave the way for my administration to dismantle bureaucracy, cut unnecessary regulations, reduce wasteful spending, and restructure federal agencies,” Trump said in a statement on November 12.
According to billionaire Elon Musk, “this will send shockwaves through the entire system and impact anyone involved in government waste, meaning it will affect a lot of people.”
Trump’s statement noted that the new department “is likely to become the ‘Manhattan Project’ of the new era,” alluding to the World War II nuclear research program that allowed the U.S. to build the world’s first atomic bomb.
