U.S. President-elect Donald Trump said on Monday he would sign an executive order imposing a 25% tariff on all products coming in to the United States from Mexico and Canada.

"On January 20th, as one of my many first Executive Orders, I will sign all necessary documents to charge Mexico and Canada a 25% Tariff on ALL products coming into the United States, and its ridiculous Open Borders," Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
Trump said the tariffs would remain in place until the two countries clamp down on drugs, particularly fentanyl, and migrants crossing the border illegally.

  • LittleSoldier : So What, maybe there will be less American kids dying needlessly. If you don’t understand Tariffs serve a whole gambit of purpose, such as equal trade. Deterrents from us companies out sourcing American jobs, for cheaper labor and then selling their products here in America. Tariffs also serve as revenue for our government instead of Taxing the public to death. Tariffs are also used as a bargain tool as other countries have tariffs for Americas goods going into their countries. China for one has huge tariffs on America. So basically GOOD FOR TRUMP!!

  • LittleSoldier : O and FYI NIVIDA IS AN AMERICAN COMPANY!!

  • 103791786 : Trump's administration will reduce corporate taxes, nvidia will have a revenue of 120 billion. If reduced by 10%, it means 12 billion.

  • MrSuperStonk : why us canadian... we just closed our borders too for 3 years

  • MrSuperStonk : let the canadian taxe water and electricity and see how they handle that... what a pos

  • D3VIN LittleSoldier : How does it benefit consumers when large corporations simply pass the cost of tariffs onto them? When China imposed tariffs on the U.S., it led to similar issues and didn’t work out as intended. Trump’s policies primarily favor corporations, so don’t be misled. His approach helps companies grow wealthier, while the economic gap continues to widen, leaving the poor even worse off.

  • D3VIN : and I quote "The U.S.-China trade war during the Trump administration showed how tariffs can backfire. While intended to protect U.S. industries, many American companies faced higher costs for imported materials, and retaliatory tariffs hurt sectors like agriculture. This resulted in significant economic strain for certain industries without achieving all intended goals."
