On the 24th, the Biden administration announced a plan to advance the use of artificial intelligence (AI) for national security across all government agencies. However, it emphasized the need to consider personal information protection when using AI.
In a memorandum, the US administration instructed government agencies to "improve the safety and diversification of the semiconductor supply chain with AI in mind." It prioritizes collecting information on operations related to other countries' AI sectors, sharing it with AI development companies to ensure product safety. However, it added that these efforts must uphold human rights and democratic values.
The government agencies were urged to "monitor and evaluate AI to reduce risks related to privacy infringement, discrimination, safety of individuals and groups, and other human rights violations."
