UK unemployment remains flat at two-and-a-half-year high
The UK's unemployment rate for the 2024/3/5 fiscal year was 4.4%, unchanged from the previous 3 months, and consistent with market expectations.
The number of unemployed people increased by 0.08 million8,000 to 1.53 million, led by people who were unemployed for up to 6 months, and surpassed the level of a year ago.
Also, there was an increase in the number of unemployed for 6 months to less than 12 months and the number of unemployed for 12 months or more.
Meanwhile, the number of employed people increased by 0.01 million9,000 to 33 million due to an increase in part-time employees and full-time self-employed workers, etc.
Furthermore, the number of workers with side jobs also increased, accounting for 3.8% of all workers.
Finally, the rate of economic inactivity fell 0.2 points to 22.1%.
