Unexpected decline in rice plant orders

New orders for the US manufacturing industry in 2024/5 fell 0.5% from the previous month to 583.1 billion dollars, eliminating the 0.4% increase in the previous month, which was revised downward, in contrast to the 0.2% increase in market expectations.

The range of decline was larger when the highly variable element of transportation equipment was excluded, and it was a 0.7% decrease compared to the 0.3% increase forecast.
