Do you mind sharing where you find the news for orphan drug designations? I don't want to start trading off it or anything financial.
I am actually trying to put together a patient education/safety advocacy/support page thingy. No monetization, just a way to work on my medical PTSD. I can't go back and undo all the terrible care I have had, but maybe I can shout to the void and educate others.
There are a lot of old medications out there that research has shown to be effective at treating other conditions. A personal example, the motion sickness patch scopolamine is very effective at treating depression and has very similar biochemistry as ketamine in that regard.
No drug company wants to pay to run the trials to get FDA approval for a drug with no patent potential. Hence why J+J had to use only the S enantiomer of ketamine and make it a nasal spray in order for them to charge the $950 per spray. Or how Tonix is repurposing cyclobenzaprine from a pill to under the tongue.
All the news feeds I see want a fee for news like that and it kind of defeats the purpose if I have to pay vs making everything open source. So figured couldn't hurt to ask!
