The US Department of Commerce is continuing its investigation into shipments to customers in china by Applied Materials, the largest US semiconductor manufacturing equipment company. This is part of a wide range of initiatives to ensure the effectiveness of stricter trade regulations with china.
Applied disclosed in its quarterly report submitted to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) this week that it received a subpoena from the Department of Commerce Bureau of Industry and Security in May. It had also received a subpoena from the same bureau in November last year.
