In the USA financial and bond markets, the 10-year treasury bond yields rose. Investors are cautious about the escalation of the trade dispute following President-elect Trump's announcement of imposing a 25% tariff on all imports from Mexico and Canada.
In some quarters, the rise in yields has been noted to reflect the inflation risk of higher tariffs. Mr. Subadra Rajappa, Chief USA Interest Rate Strategy Officer at Societe Generale, also pointed out that it is a sign that the technical factors that have supported the bond market so far have lost momentum.
From the minutes of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting on November 6-7, released by the Federal Reserve Board (FRB) on the 26th, it was revealed that there were differing opinions on how much further interest rate cuts were necessary.
