US July Challenger Layoffs Up 9% YoY, Hiring Plans at Lowest Since 2012

The US labor market showed more signs of cooling, with cost-cutting being the main reason for layoffs in July and year-to-date. Market/economic conditions were the second largest cause. The tech industry led in layoffs, followed by the service sector.
