US State Department declined to comment on reports of explosions

State Department Deputy Press Secretary Vedant Patel told reporters that “there is no updated information on specific activities.”

“We must talk to our partners in the region about this specific incident,” Patel said.

Asked if Israel had told the US about a possible attack in Beirut, Patel answered that he would not comment “on specific diplomatic discussions.”

“And we will leave it up to Israel to decide what kind of plans and responses Israel is undertaking.
