US State Department to revise international arms trade rules necessary for deepening AUKUS

2024/8/16 7:55 AM GMT+9 (some excerpts)
The US State Department revealed in a report submitted to Congress on the 15th that the conditions for the International Arms Trade Regulations (ITAR) revisions necessary to deepen the security framework “AUKUS (AUCUS)” with the United Kingdom and Australia have been met.
According to the State Department, the United Kingdom and Australia have established export control systems equivalent to the United States, and both countries can be made exceptional export destinations by revising ITAR.
AUKUS, which was launched in 2021 against the backdrop of the rise of China, is promoting cooperation such as allowing Australia to introduce nuclear submarines, but until now it has been difficult for the three countries to share important military technology of the United States, which is strictly protected under ITAR.
