US Treasury Secretary Yellen stated that the US labor market is sound, although it has slowed down slightly, and she does not want it to soften further.
Secretary Yellen told reporters in Austin, Texas, that she would be very pleased if employment growth stabilized around this level. She added, "I hope and expect it to be so."
The number of non-farm employees in August increased by 0.14 million 2000 people compared to the previous month, falling below expectations. Over the past three months, it has shown the slowest growth since the middle of 2020, but the unemployment rate has dropped to 4.2%, the lowest in five months.
