USA warns Israel of escalating conflict with Lebanon amidst increased tensions in Gaza.
Haaretz, an Israeli newspaper, revealed that the United States has issued a warning to the Israeli government about the possibility of a full-scale war breaking out with Lebanon.

According to Al Jazeera's report on Wednesday, Haaretz quoted statements from Western diplomats claiming that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's refusal to withdraw from the Philadelphia Corridor in the southern Gaza Strip has led Hamas to adopt a stricter stance in negotiations.
Western diplomats pointed out that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu's position has hardened Hamas' stance on the number of Israeli prisoners that must be released as a condition for the exchange of power.
The report also mentions that the US government has warned Israel about the escalation of tension and the potential for a full-scale war with Lebanon. Washington expressed concern that if an agreement is not reached with Hamas, Israel may become embroiled in a conflict with Hezbollah.
Haaretz further quoted a US official saying, "While we support Israel's actions against Hezbollah, the outcome of a broad war must be carefully considered." US authorities added, "In August, we felt the risk of war was very high and tried to broker a prisoner exchange to avoid it." The deadly Gaza conflict is now entering its 12th month, with months of turbulent negotiations taking place between the Israel government and Hamas resistance movement, mediated by Qatar and Egypt with US involvement, in an effort to reach an agreement.
The current point of contention is Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu's claim to occupy the Philadelphia Corridor along the Gaza-Egypt border. On the other hand, Hamas is demanding a complete withdrawal of Israeli forces.
Israeli state radio and television previously reported that Mossad Director David Barnea emphasized Israel's assertion that control of the Philadelphia Corridor should be maintained in any agreement, and that withdrawal should only occur in the second stage.
