3 ways to save money and let your money blossom while you're living, spending & sleeping
Tip one. Set financial goals. Invest in your future you.
Create common financial goals with your partner to build a future together. Ask your partner what their goals are. And this valentines day consider starting an investment fund together.
Also agree to make regular contributions of what you can afford, into your account. That way you can go on holidays sooner, or maybe get closer to that property sooner.
Get romantic and pick your investments together over dinner.
Consider this… if you invested in the S&P500 over the last three years, your investment would have grown 32% vs, leaving your hard earned cash at the bank and getting 0-3.9%
Don't know where to invest? Just like love, investing doesn’t have to be complex. You can go the well-trodden path invest in the world’s biggest funds via the S&P500, or the Nasdaq, by buying ETFs like $SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY.US)$ , $iShares Core S&P 500 ETF (IVV.US)$ or $Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ.US)$ or $BetaShares NASDAQ 100 ETF (NDQ.AU)$ which will give you access to growth and dividends in some of the biggest companies in the US and world. Alternatively, if you want to invest in Australia’s great, the ASX200, you can invest in Australia's biggest ETFs such as $Vanguard Australian Shares ETF (VAS.AU)$ or $iShares Core S&P/ASX 200 ETF (IOZ.AU)$
Tip two. Be credit and debt card smart. Get a card that loves you back
Consider switching to a debit or credit card that loves you back and gives you frequent flyer points, so when you are spend money on dinners, gifs, groceries, flights, etc. you are earning frequent flyer points.
If you use a card that gives you frequent flyer points, for every dollar you spend, you can fast track going on romantic getaways sooner or more often. And also save cash.
With the money you save on flights, you can invest the money you would have spent and put into in your investment account and let the power of compounding do the work.
Tip three. Get fit together - couples who sweat together stay together
If are want to up the ante this V-day, consider getting the Qantas wellbeing app. Link it to your frequent flyers. If you walk 10,000 steps a day, or complete your weekly steps goal, or you will get frequent flyer points. You can also compete challenges against your friends and loved ones and you get frequent flyer points. Plus, you also earn points if you complete the sleep challenges. So you are earning points while you sleep.
