Starting with iOS 18.1, developers will be able to provide NFC contactless payments using Secure Element within their own apps on the iPhone, apart from Apple Pay and Apple Wallet. Using the new NFC API and SE (Secure Element) API, developers will be able to provide in-app contactless payments for in-store payments, car keys, transportation IC cards, employee ID cards, student ID cards, home keys, hotel room keys, store membership cards and point cards, event tickets, and future supported government-issued ID cards.
