$NVIDIA (NVDA.US)$ as of today 40+ % shares of it are still in institutions hands. fact: their combined market power is pivotal. one might argue that they don’t necessarily act in concert. but, in reality, unfortunately to retail traders like you and me, they do - how they achieve that? idk. so, it becomes critical for retail traders to be in sync with institutions’ mindset wrt where the stock price should be, not the true value of it, nor the price you and i think it should be. anyhow this is a hard learnt lesson for me, and i rather share with you all than keep it for myself.
with this mechanism understood, one ought to realize how misleading those technical charting extropolation could become, and truth be told, AI is still not able to help predicting people’s mindset just yet.
back to reality, with all those voices from the street currently, my impression is that they start to realize that AI spending is going to continue, whether they like it or not, and nvda is going to benefit from it, for foreseeable future. so in their mind, the fair price has increased from, say 105-115 range before er, up to 115-125 range after er. some of institutions will probably still try to shoot down price if it gets closer to the upper limit, but now i have breathing room to anticipate some of them will instead rather choose to hold tight with their shares.
what if retail traders driving price over the limit and towards 130 during coming week? then the probability of institutions shooting it down is quite high.
what if retail traders trying shorting it? i am saying if you sure you read into institutions’ mind, then luck with you. otherwise I wouldn’t bet on it.
overall, the street is a lot more rational than retail traders, I have to say, to their credit, although their mindset could be outdated, for example, regarding AI as a bubble, which, history will prove it is a revolution, anything but a bubble, and nvda is worthy as THE front runner.
