Hey mooers!
The Bank of Canada, under Governor Tiff Macklem, has made a second significant rate cut, dropping the overnight rate by50 basispoints to3.25%.This decision, influenced by US President-elect Donald Trump's threat of25%tariffs on Canadian goods, marks the first time since the 2009 financial crisis, aside from the Covid pandemic, that back-to-back50basis point cuts have been implemented.Read more>>
But before other recaps, let's look at something different:
What's Moo'ed?
"What's Moo'ed" is a space that captures fun, newsworthy, jaw-dropping and sometimes confusing (lmao) news clips for mooers so that you know this is a colorful world (or a weird and speechless one).
1. Not now.
Jula Vadini, a worried passenger on a flight to San José Del Guaviare in Colombia, recorded a TikTok video when the crew handed out electronic candles. She later learned and shared that it was a Colombian tradition for December 7th, where one candle symbolizes one wish. I mean, if they hand out candles to her family members and friends while she's flying, that's the real worry. But electronic candle is indeed good product when there's turbulance in the air.
2. Remember me?
A UK tourist discovered a COVID-19 themed park in Vietnam, complete with "googly-eyed" pathogen sculptures, as photos of the unusual attraction go viral online. This proves the golden rule one more time: people love their abusers.
3. The twin of Facebook: "Faceflight"
Air Canada is set to introduce facial recognition technology at the gate, becoming the first Canadian airline to use the software to simplify the boarding process. Customer trust will be better as the flight will be more "faceful".
Okay, let's dive back to the syrup:

:
The market didn’t react wildly last Wednesday when BoC announced a 0.5% rate cut. Looks like this was already priced in when unemployment rate was announced the week before and it was unexpectedly high. BoC did say this will probably be the last big cut and in 2025, the rate cut will be smaller as our economy and unemployment situation hopefully improves.
Following the introduction of China's groundbreaking DeepSeek technology, Wall Street giants have revised their investment outlooks for the Chinese market.
