[Weekly Syrup] Rivian is "vroom, vroom!" past Tesla?
After revealing its new collaboration with Volkswagen, $Rivian Automotive(RIVN.US)$ has seen its pre-market trading skyrocket by a whopping 44.06%, reaching $17.23 as of 4:02 am EDT on June 26.
Born in Irvine, California back in 2009, Rivian is famous for its rugged electric SUVs and adventure-ready pickup trucks, often seen as a fierce rival to $Tesla(TSLA.US)$ in the buzzing US electric vehicle scene.
But before other recaps, let's look at something different:
What's Moo'ed?
"What's Moo'ed" is a space that captures fun, newsworthy, jaw-dropping and sometimes confusing (lmao) news clips for mooers so that you know this is a colorful world (or a weird and speechless one).
1) You don't quit drinking. Drinking quits you
Ol' Beautiful, a popular brewery in Calgary, suffered significant damage in a large fire that occurred overnight. The cause will be investigated, but we all know who to blame. What a dirty move, A.A.!

2) La La No Land
A sailor influencer shocks followers on TikTok after sharing a wildly remote location more than a thousand miles from land in every direction. The secret to his success must be singing Five Hundred Miles twice.
3) One more time: time to bring back the szechuan sauce
Asian food restaurants will possibly experience shortage of Huy Fong sriracha hot sauce as the company is struggling to keep up with demand. Here are tips for restaurants: Hire some retired Magic Mike performers to serve the food and dance when customers are eating. The factory of Huy Fong can well close. No worries.
4) Thanos's fate
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa appointed former opposition leader John Steenhuisen as Minister of Agriculture on Sunday. We should definitely learn from this level of inclusivity and nobleness. And indeed, it's a good tactic to threaten your opponent: If you don't obey me, go farming!

Okay, let's dive back to the syrup:
Volkswagen and $Rivian Automotive(RIVN.US)$ are teaming up to revolutionize the future of electric vehicles! Volkswagen kicked things off with a hefty $1 billion investment in Rivian and plans to pump in an additional $5 billion by 2026. Rivian, which has been all about electric trucks since it started, was ahead of the curve even before $Tesla(TSLA.US)$'s Cybertruck hit the scene.
With Tesla recently recalling 23,000 Cybertrucks due to hardware issues, could Rivian's early focus on electric trucks turn out to be a masterstroke in this still-evolving market?
While many electric vehicle startups have struggled to stay afloat amid fierce price wars, Volkswagen's collaboration with Rivian raises the stakes.

~Can this alliance between a legacy carmaker and an EV pioneer succeed?
~And would you bet your money on $Rivian Automotive(RIVN.US)$?

Our mooers also have interesting ideas about Tesla, @Musk Fan talked about Elon Musk's and xAI:
I think it's problematic Musk diverted nVidia chips paid with Tesla money to his other company xAI and will allow xAI to use those chips till at least end of 2024. That will benifit xAI but not necessarily Tesla.
I honestly think retail investors in Tesla should vote NO on the pay package and first get more legal guarantees from Musk regarding Tesla's AI future. Stock dilution is another problem.

The Bank of Canada's Interest Rate Cut Could Spark a Boom in High-Yield Stocks
The $National Bank of Canada(NA.CA)$ kicked off the season of bank dividend payments! Shareholders on record by Tuesday, June 25th, are set to receive a juicy dividend of $0.8067 per share on Wednesday, July 31st. This new payout, yielding 4.17%, is an upgrade from the previous $0.78 dividend.
Over the last two years, climbing interest rates have kept high-yield stock prices in the doldrums, with investors flocking to bonds and Guaranteed Investment Certificates (GICs) for income.
But here's the exciting part:
With the Bank of Canada expected to slash interest rates by 100 basis points in 2024, trillions of Canadian dollars currently parked in retirement accounts could be on the move. As interest rates drop, investors will be itching to find alternative income sources, making dividend stocks an enticing option.

  • 102362254 : Rivian's prospects got a boost with a major investment from Volkswagen. ETFs and dividend stocks spread out investments and provide steady income. I prefer diversifying my investments and will monitor to find the most attractive option.

  • mr_cashcow : What I can add on is don't think of Tesla as just an EV company, Elon have his hands in many pots and he is a master at pivoting so with his expertise, connections & wealth I'm sure he can come up with a new thing to bring Tesla to new heightsundefined

So long term wise the best bet is probably TeslaundefinedNFAundefined

  • Meme_Short_Queen : Rivian is a fad that will only fade into history in no time, Tesla is also a fad they will implode soon
