[Weekly Trader’s Talk] Are we out of the woods yet?

TGIF Moo-ers! It has been another week of market weakness - particularly in the US and Japan. Japan’s stock markets hit an eight-month low on Friday, as they declined for two straight days after the Bank of Japan raised benchmark interest rates to their highest level since 2008.

The dismal stock market performance was a far cry from just a month ago - when the Nikkei hit an all-time closing high on July 11.

Meanwhile, U.S. stocks also had a rough week as weaker-than-expected jobs and manufacturing data sparked concerns about a rapid economic slowdown.

Are we out of the woods yet? Or are markets plagued by the third quarter curse?

The third quarter has historically been a quarter of weakness, with history showing the third quarter as one with the biggest drops and the slowest growth. How should investors position their portfolios?
