What happens to shareholders if $GOOG gets broken up?

Do they just say too bad too sad and liquidate us at whatever the market value is of the standalone company? Do we receive shares in the new spinoff companies? What if the spinoffs don't even go public? $Alphabet-C (GOOG.US)$
