The reason for the stability is believed to be the institutional buying support... They may be buying undervalued sectors and stocks in anticipation of an interest rate cut. The fact that even small-cap stocks are performing well indicates that there is buying support and a lack of fear of an economic downturn. If this is truly driven by institutional activity, there is a possibility of future upward movement. The fact that individuals are supporting the market when they are bearish suggests that they believe it will bounce back if it rises. There is no point in supporting the market if they believe it will decline in the future...
