Who is boycotting Prime Minister Netanyahu's speech to parliament?
Amid growing criticism of the prime minister's acts of war in Gaza, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will deliver a speech to parliament, so there will be vacant seats in the parliament building.
The boycott is an expression of dissatisfaction with America's unwavering support for Israel, particularly among progressive Democratic lawmakers.
So who's going to miss? Here are a few names:
・It is said that Kamala Harris, who is getting the most attention from the Democratic Party, will not attend because there is another event.
・Democratic congressman Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez of New York said she would boycott “war criminal” speeches and added that “it is a sad day in US history that authoritarians who have been requested a warrant from the International Criminal Court (ICC) are allowed to make speeches at joint sessions of Congress.”
・Michigan's Rashida Traib said, “It's totally disgraceful that the leaders of both parties invited him to address Congress,” and also mentioned that the prime minister should be arrested and sent to the ICC.
・It is said that Mr. Ilhan Omar from Minnesota will be absent and that guest tickets will be given to the prisoner's family.
・Representative of Washington. Pramila Jayapal told The Associated Press that inviting Prime Minister Netanyahu was a “bad idea.”
