Demand for Apple's latest flagship smart phone, the iPhone 16 series, appears to be waning. According to the latest investor report by Barclays' analysts, there is a possibility that Apple has reduced the production of iPhone 16 by about 3 million units for the December quarter. This information is based on a supply chain investigation from Apple's major semiconductor suppliers.
Barclays analysts predict that the shipment of iPhone 16 may decrease by 15% compared to the same period last year. This forecast is mainly based on the sales performance of July and August remaining on par with the previous year.
For the September quarter (July, August, September), it is expected that the shipment of iPhone 16 will reach 51 million units. This figure takes into account the two extra days of sales compared to the previous year's iPhone 15. However, the outlook for the December quarter (October, November, December) is challenging, with Barclays warning that risk is increasing.
