$NVIDIA (NVDA.US)$'s market capitalization reached $3.01 trillion, surpassing $Apple (AAPL.US)$'s $3 trillion and making it the second-largest publicly traded company in the US, just behind $Microsoft (MSFT.US)$'s $3.15 trillion.

On Wednesday, Nvidia shares rose 5.2% to $1,224.4, while Apple's shares increased 0.8% to $196, helping both the $S&P 500 Index (.SPX.US)$ and $NASDAQ 100 Index (.NDX.US)$ reach new record highs. Nvidia's stock has surged 147% this year, benefiting from the AI boom, while Apple's has gained 1.7% year-to-date.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang announced the launch of the advanced AI chip platform Rubin in 2026, which will succeed the Blackwell platform. Nvidia holds about 70% of the AI semiconductor market, with analysts predicting further growth for the stock.

As we look ahead, we think NVDA is on pace to become the most valuable company, given the plethora of ways it can monetize AI and our belief that it has the largest addressable market expansion opportunity across the Tech sector," wrote Angelo Zino, senior equity analyst at CFRA Research in a note on Wednesday evening.

Nvidia is implementing a 10-for-1 stock split to make its shares more affordable for individual investors. The post-split shares will start trading on June 10.
