The company has been issued a Transport Charter Permit (TCP) that does not cover testing or deployment of Self-Driving Cars. This means that the company owns and manages a fleet of vehicles and employs drivers as employees. According to the commission, TCP is for companies that want to provide pre-arranged Trucking services, such as round-trip sightseeing tours, unlike standard ride-sharing service permits.
Uber (UBER ) and Lyft ( LYFT ) operate Transportation Network Companies (TNC) with permission, allowing companies to use app-based platforms to connect passengers and drivers with personal vehicles.
