[Colombo 13th Reuters] - The Sri Lankan communications regulator has issued a license to provide satellite broadband services domestically to the satellite communication service “Starlink” of the space development company SpaceX led by American entrepreneur Elon Musk. The presidential office made the announcement.
Last month, the Sri Lankan parliament passed a new communications bill, which is the first law revision in 28 years. The way for Starlink to advance into Sri Lanka has been paved.
According to what an official revealed to Reuters last month, Starlink proposed starting a business in Sri Lanka in March. The company says it needs to pay license fees.
