In the New York foreign exchange market, the dollar softened and the yen saw its largest weekly decline since June.

In the final hours of the New York foreign exchange market, the dollar experienced a significant decline against the yen, as well as a weak trend against other currencies. The market expanded its movements to assess the willingness of the Federal Reserve (FRB) to cut interest rates while digesting the economic indicators announced on that day.
The housing indicators in the USA also put pressure on the dollar.
In July, the number of new single-family residence constructions announced by the US Department of Commerce on the 16th (seasonally adjusted) decreased by 14.1% from the previous month to 851,000 units on an annualized basis, marking a fifth consecutive monthly decline.
The dollar index against major currencies fell by 0.48% to 102.54.
The dollar fell by 1.04% against the yen to 147.75. In the previous trading session, it reached a two-week high of 149.40 yen.
