Global automobile manufacturers are increasing their net profits for each car sold. Due to the recovery of the supply chain and rising prices, 9 out of 12 major auto manufacturers had a higher net income in 2023 compared to 2022. In terms of growth rate, Japanese companies such as Toyota and Honda, which have advantages in the hybrid vehicle (HV) field, have performed well. The top profit earner is the American Tesla, reaching 1.11 million yen for each Tesla. The tax effect pushed the net income up by over 5 billion US dollars (approximately 770 billion yen at the exchange rate at that time). Excluding this factor, Tesla's profit per vehicle decreased to 0.64 million yen. Mercedes-Benz Group of Germany is at 0.84 million yen, and BMW of Germany is at 0.7 million yen. In addition to the 12 auto manufacturers, the SUVs have strong sales in North America with Subaru reaching 0.39 million yen. Nissan is at 0.12 million yen.
