$DBS Group Holdings (D05.SG)$ Why is everyone focusing on dividends? The premise of earning dividends is that the stock price can return to its original level after ex-dividend. Only then can the dividends be considered earnings. Otherwise, taking dividends would be a loss in stock price, which is equivalent to taking your own money. So ultimately, profits depend on the fluctuation of stock prices (except for REITs). Whether to buy or sell stocks depends on the amount and whether dividends are paid. I think DBS is likely to fall to $34 or even below $33 after ex-dividend.
